二、何时扣好安全带
每个座位很容易看到“请系好安全带”的指示灯，当指示灯亮起时，应系好安全带，通常包括以下情况：
1、飞机滑行、起飞和降落阶段，这个阶段飞机的状态有加减速运动，必须系好安全带。
2、飞机在空中遇到湍流而颠簸时，“请系好安全带”的指示灯会亮起，乘务员会广播，此时应系好安全带。
三、是否全程要系安全带
一般情况下，飞机在滑行、起飞和降落阶段、空中颠簸阶段，“请系好安全带”的指示灯会亮起，而飞机在平飞巡航阶段“请系好安全带”的指示灯会熄灭。如飞行员认为需要提醒旅客乘坐飞机期间要一直系好安全带，则“请系好安全带”的指示灯会常亮。
当然，也可以选择仅按“请系好安全带”指示灯的提示使用安全带，但要注意，有些飞机颠簸的状态、飞机设备和机组人员是无法预测的，在毫无预兆的情况下发生颠簸，尤其是严重的颠簸，如晴空颠簸，为了防止飞机遇到气流发生突然颠簸，建议旅客就座期间全程系好安全带。

安全带主要由安全释放装置、织带和座椅连接部分组成。织带标准宽度为 51毫米， 能够承受足够的载荷以抵抗巨大的冲击力，而且还有阻燃和毒性小的特点。
座椅的连接部位足够牢固，是经过成千上万次的试验检验的，以便牢固地将安全带和座椅连接在一起。
安全带的释放装置，主要由插片和锁扣两部分组成。简单地将插片插入锁扣内就将安全带系好，而向上提起锁扣的金属片拉出插片就可以释放。
在国际上，在我国航空工业系统中，都制定了安全带最低性能要求。“最低”不是性能本身较低，而是确保旅客人身安全起码的要求。生产厂家在生产的时候，其性能要求是远远高于这个最低性能要求的，安全系数是很大的。
航空安全带，必须通过民用航空适航部门的审查，经适航审查合格，发给适航证，才能安装使用。
